ADA Attorney V in the Dallas County Conviction Integrity Unit (CIU)

This ADA V position is for the Deputy Chief of the CIU. The Deputy Chief reports to the Chief of the CIU and is responsible for assisting in the supervision of other CIU attorneys and staff. The primary focus of the CIU is to review cases involving allegations of actual innocence, but also cases involving instances of wrongful conviction as a result of systemic errors. The CIU also plays other roles in the DA’s office, including advising on evidence retention/destruction issues.

Due to the procedural posture of CIU cases, this ADA V position requires a candidate with strong legal research and writing skills and at least four (4) years of legal experience as a licensed attorney. Experience with post-conviction habeas matters, and/or innocence cases/projects is preferred, but not required.
