HOW CAN YOUR DONATION IMPACT THE COMMUNITY?
The 2017 DWLA Leadership Class is supporting a two-part service project dedicated to Genesis Women’s Shelter, a Dallas outreach organization dedicated to aiding women transition out of domestic violence.
The first part of the project connected 23 Dallas attorneys to women at Genesis during a legal aid event in July 2017. For part two, we have planned an Online Giving Week for August 14-18, 2017. Genesis fights every day to end the injustices of domestic violence and its effects on the whole family, but they can’t do it without community support. For this reason, we need your help.
Our overall goal of $12,000 will provide for much-needed items, including household items, gas cards, school supplies, and school uniforms. Because of the great need and because children grow so fast, school uniforms alone account for two-thirds of the goal.
For every $50 raised, Genesis can purchase a child’s school uniform for a semester; for $100, Genesis can purchase a child’s school uniform for the entire school year. Your tax-deductible gift not only alleviates a mother’s back-to-school expenses and the cost of transitional housing, but it also reassures women and children that they are not alone.
