Wonder Women in Charge (and the men that support them)

DWLA is hosting Wonder Women in Charge (and the men who support them) with two tracks of programming – a business development and marketing track as well as a financial and physical health track, on Friday, August 25th from 1:30pm to 5:00pm.

The event is FREE and open to any lawyer who would like to attend, but we request you register in advance.

Track 1 (Business Development and Marketing):

1:30 p.m.-2:45 p.m. – Effective Legal Marketing for the Modern Wonder Woman
Deborah McMurray, CEO and Strategy Architect for Content Pilot LLC and veteran legal marketer, who focuses on marketing and business development strategy and technologies, will share her insights on tools and techniques for marketing on the internet, followed by a focused, interactive workshop on how you can specifically use LinkedIn to build relationships, network, and effectively market yourself, led by Amy Boardman Hunt, founder of Muse Communications, which provides lawyers with specialized content marketing and media relations expertise.

3:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. – Pitch Perfect Panel

How to make a perfect pitch to in-house counsel and land the business with Stephanie Zapata Moore (GC of Vistra Energy), Telisa Schelin (GC with TIER REIT), Kara Altenbaumer-Price (SVP, Corporate Risk & Governance with USI), and moderator Jonathan Childers (with Lynn Pinker Cox & Hurst).

Track 2 (Financial and Physical Health):

1:30 p.m.-2:45 p.m. – Health for Women – Putting Ourselves First: Our Health As We Age

A panel of doctors will share insights on how Wonder Women take care of themselves and stay healthy as they get older. The panel includes Dr. Elizabeth Newsom, Obstetrics and Gynecology, MD from UT Southwestern Medical School, and Dr. Farah Khan, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeon.

3:00 pm.-4:00 p.m. – Planning for the Legal, Financial, and Health Challenges of the Golden Years
A panel will address what information, tools, and resources you need to prepare to care for your loved ones in their golden years. Panel Includes: Lauren Olson, an attorney at Leu & Peirce, a law firm specializing in elder law; Sherry Christiaens, Certified Dementia Practitioner, Community outreach director of Senior Living Specialists; and Angela Thomas, Hospice RN for Caring with Grace.

4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Networking and a cash bar
