Parkland Health & Hospital System is seeking a self-motivated, experienced attorney with a minimum of four (4) years’ experience as a practicing attorney focused on in house labor & employment and related operational matters. The Senior Associate Attorney candidate will have a track record of working effectively with a client-service focus in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be inspired by Parkland’s Mission: Dedicated to the health and well-being of individuals and communities entrusted to our care.

The Senior Associate Attorney reports to Deputy General Counsel, and serves the organization in a variety of areas including employment, contracts, e-discovery, litigation management, claims review, and hospital departments’ personnel operations. The ideal candidate utilizes creativity and diplomacy to reach solutions among competing interests, develops and executes pragmatic/creative legal and business solutions on a timely basis, and drives projects to completion. The successful candidate must enjoy a fast-paced environment, be agile and easily adjust to changing priorities; possess strong interpersonal, analytical, organizational, and communications skills; work collaboratively to achieve established goals and exercises independent judgment with minimal supervision and oversight. Prior in house experience preferred. Experience with a healthcare or other highly regulated entity is a plus, as is experience working for a governmental agency. The successful candidate is expected to integrate into a diverse, fast-paced legal team environment.

The Senior Associate Attorney provides substantive legal advice and counsel to all levels of organizational leadership with respect to a broad array of both complex and routine legal issues, focusing on laws governing employers including Title VII, ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and Texas Labor Code; responsible for formulating and coordinating responses to administrative agencies including EEOC, DOL, TWCCRD, and other regulatory/licensing agencies; drafts, reviews, and negotiates agreements, including employment training programs, agreements with educational institutions, and other health care entities; oversees organization’s employment based immigration and visa process, including day to day interaction with employees, prospective employees, leaders, medical staff, and outside immigration counsel; exercises independent judgment in identifying legal assignments requiring specialized legal services and refers such assignments to appropriate outside counsel, coordinates and supervises such outsourced services and assures the interface between outside counsel and internal personnel necessary for successful and cost efficient outcomes; attends meetings, participates in internal committees, work groups, task forces, and performs other functions and duties consistent with those performed by in house counsel; prepares and reviews correspondence, reports, guidelines, policies and procedures, including human resource policies and procedures. Must have high level written and oral communications skills, as well as computer and technology proficiency.
