Assistant General Counsel – Reports to General Counsel

Basic Function of Position
The Assistant General Counsel provides legal advice to Pinnacle Group entities and helps grow the policy and compliance function as Pinnacle expands globally and into new business lines. Specific areas for compliance are employment regulations (FCRA, IRCA, Title VII, FLSA), data privacy (state rules, GDPR, and other jurisdictions), cyber security and website accessibility, and sales/use tax. Policy writing and documentation of compliance processes are a large part of the role and it will lead Pinnacle to become SSAE 16 compliant.

Duties and Responsibilities

Legal/Regulatory Framework – maintain knowledge of and counsel Pinnacle entities on the legal and regulatory framework that applies to Pinnacle’s business at the local, state, and federal level, as well as in foreign jurisdictions where Pinnacle operates; train Pinnacle stakeholders on relevant standards and how they impact the business – 35%

Policy Development – create and maintain Pinnacle’s corporate policies, including associated documentation and training; prepare Pinnacle for SSAE 16 audit; review internal processes and procedures and recommend improvements – 30%

Project Mgmt. – Mgmt. of special projects as assigned; may include assisting with litigation mgmt. or assisting with M&A activities – 20%

Audit & Compliance – in collaboration with Pinnacle’s compliance manager, ensure compliance with Pinnacle Group policies, contractual requirements, and relevant legal and regulatory requirements, including process controls and reporting; provide after-action reviews and follow-up training as needed – 10%

Contract Review – review various agreements as needed -5%

Qualifications
Law degree and Texas law license
Minimum of 7 years in relevant legal practice
Ability to translate complex legal concepts into straightforward business advice
Excellent written communication skills – effective for both lay people and regulatory agencies, etc.
Strong critical thinking skills; good judgment
