The Texas Business Court:
The One Year Anniversary and Beyond
In 2023, the Texas Legislature established its first Business Court, making Texas the 31st state to create a specialized court for adjudicating complex business disputes. The Business Court is divided into 11 divisions encompassing all Texas counties and corresponding to the state’s administrative judicial districts. The Business Court officially began accepting cases on Sept. 1, 2024. The Texas Legislature recently enlarged the Business Court’s jurisdiction, which will become effective Sept. 1, 2025. In this CLE, Business Court Judges, Hon. Melissa Andrews, Hon. Andrea Bouressa, and Hon. Bill Whitehill will discuss with Tricia DeLeon and Vanessa Suarez of Holland & Knight, everything you and your clients should know about the new Business Court, including what cases are appropriate and the expanded powers of the Court.
