Letter from the President

January 9, 2025

Happy 2025 DWLA!

As an unapologetic goal-getter and meticulous planner, I absolutely love the energy of a new year. There is something simply magical about the promise of transformation.

To ring in the new year, I met up with a few like-minded women for a mini retreat, where we collectively celebrated wins, reflected on our whys, and created new goals. We followed our 2025 intention-setting with dinner and restoration in the form of spa treatments and sleep – but the magic came later. By the very next day, the group text chain was already pinging with heartfelt encouragement, shared advice, and over the past week, individual wins.

Why am I sharing this?

Because this weekend’s experience punctuated my vision for this year’s theme:

Empowering Change Through Connectivity

There is no question that each of us is powerful in our own right, and that our individual grit and resilience has served us in our journeys.

At the same time, the collective power we exude when we come together is exponential. When we connect and give one another a “boost,” when we collaborate and share resources, that is when we climb or move mountains, when we rise and lift others, when we blaze new trails and break ceilings.

You don’t have to take my word for it. Instead, join me on International Women’s Day – March 8, 2025 – and see for yourself – as we debut the premiere of our documentary, A Law Unto Themselves, about the incredible women lawyers in Dallas whose collective effort empowered the incredible opportunities we enjoy today. Their stories show us that when we come together and foster community, that is when we make the most impactful changes for all.

It is their legacy that inspires me to invite you to join DWLA in 2025 as we curate meaningful opportunities for you to connect to one another and to build and grow community so we can continue to elevate the standing of women in the legal profession.
